Container Solutions for Mining & Resources

Purpose-specified containers for the Pilbara, Goldfields, and Mid-West. Built for the conditions, sized for the workforce, delivered to spec.

The Sector We Were Built For

Two decades of supplying containers to Western Australian mining hasn’t taught us how to make containers – that part’s well understood. It’s taught us how mining actually uses them. The difference between a fly-camp donga that holds up for ten years and one that’s cracking after eighteen months. The HVAC specification that handles 47°C summer ambient and still works at 6am in winter. The bunding standard that passes a DMIRS audit on the first inspection. The compliance documentation that lets a project mobilise on schedule instead of waiting on paperwork.

That’s what mining operators come to Shipping Containers Perth for. Not the cheapest unit on the listing site. The right unit, built to your spec, delivered to the gate at Tom Price, Newman, Kalgoorlie, or Karratha on the day you needed it there.

What Mining Operations Need From Containers

Accommodation that survives the conditions. Single-occupancy dongas and twin-share rooms with full ensuites, climate control sized to the location, and acoustic separation that actually lets shift workers sleep. We build to mining specification – heavier insulation, redundant HVAC, mining-grade fixtures, and finishes that handle three years of FIFO turnover.

Crib rooms and smoko facilities sized to crew numbers and catering scope. Bench seating, fridge and microwave runs, hot water, lockers, and HVAC engineered for full-occupancy peak demand. Hygiene-grade finishes with proper grease management for the kitchen-end fit-out.

Workshops and maintenance bays with three-phase power distribution, compressed air, fume extraction where required, and roller doors sized for the equipment going in and out. Built on 40ft high cubes for headroom, with reinforced flooring rated for vehicle loads.

Crib, change, and lamp rooms to mine site spec, with locker walls, bench seating, separated wet and dry zones, and washing stations. Built so they pass inspection by site safety officers on first look.

Dangerous goods storage for diesel, chemicals, reagents, oils, and explosives precursors. AS 1940, AS 4326, AS 3780, and (for explosives) AS 2187 compliant. Engineering documentation supplied for DMIRS submission.

Parts and consumables storage – standard containers, high cubes, and side openings for the spares that keep production running. Side openings particularly valuable for fast-access parts cribs at major changeouts.

Refrigerated units for catering, medical supplies, and any temperature-sensitive operational materials. Three-phase or generator-compatible, with remote temperature logging for compliance and operational reliability.

Why Mining Operators Specify Us

We understand the project timeline

Mining mobilisation doesn’t allow for slippage. When the schedule says containers on the pad by week 8, that’s when we deliver. Twenty years of mining work means we know what’s involved – load-out from depot, road train coordination, escort vehicles where required, gate access protocols, and unload by crane or Hiab on arrival. We don’t learn this on your job.

We build to the standard, not the spec sheet

Mining specifications often understate what’s actually required. Insulation called out at 50mm but the site is in the Pilbara and HVAC will run flat out – we’ll quote 75mm with vapour barrier and tell you why. Container called out as cargo-worthy but the modification is permanent and customer-facing – we’ll quote new 1-trip and explain the lifecycle math. You get the right outcome, not the spec-sheet outcome.

We hold Perth-domestic stock

No 12-week lead times from offshore manufacturing. Standard containers, high cubes, side openings, and reefers are at our Perth depot now. Modified builds are completed in our Perth workshop on lead times you can actually plan against.

We supply compliance documentation as part of the price

Engineering certifications, AS-standard compliance certificates, electrical and plumbing sign-offs, and structural calculations are included – not invoiced separately when you realise you need them for site approval.

Common Mining Container Programs

  • Project Mobilisation Package – Site offices, crib rooms, ablutions, and DG storage delivered as a coordinated package for new project start-up. Typically 6–20 units delivered over 4–8 weeks.

  • Fly-Camp Expansion – Additional dongas, ablutions, and amenities for crew expansion at existing camps. Designed to integrate with existing camp infrastructure.

  • Workshop & Maintenance Fit-Outs – Container-based workshop facilities for major maintenance shutdowns, exploration campaigns, and ongoing operations support.

  • Fleet-Scale Container Leasing – 20–200+ unit leasing programs with consolidated billing, dedicated account management, and priority logistics handling.

  • Exploration Camp Builds – Rapid-deployment exploration camps with all amenities for short-term campaigns. Designed for relocation as drilling programs move.

Frequently Asked Questions

Routinely. Karratha, Port Hedland, Tom Price, Newman, Paraburdoo, Mt Whaleback, Roy Hill, Solomon, and the major Kimberley operations are all standard delivery destinations. We coordinate road train transport, escort vehicles where required, and gate access protocols with your site logistics team.
Yes – we routinely build to BHP, Rio Tinto, Fortescue, and major contractor specifications. Bring us the spec and we’ll quote to it. If we need to clarify any spec requirements, we’ll raise them upfront rather than at delivery.
Standard unmodified containers: 1–2 weeks ex-Perth-depot. Standard modified site offices and crib rooms: 4–8 weeks. Complex modifications (multi-cell DG, fully fitted workshops, accommodation with ensuites): 8–12 weeks. We’ll firm the lead time at quote and hold to it.
Yes – we have panel and preferred-supplier arrangements with several major mining contractors. Talk to our commercial team about establishing pricing schedules, master service agreements, and consolidated billing arrangements.
For dangerous goods storage, accommodation, and ablution builds, we supply the engineering documentation, AS-standard certifications, and structural calculations required for DMIRS notifications. Your site environment and approvals team handles the regulatory submission; we supply everything that needs to go in the package.
We handle close-out logistics – pickup, transport back to Perth, refurbishment, and either resale or redeployment. Many of our long-term leased units rotate between projects across their service life.
